I don't know how Mafia 2 DE runs on console, if it runs pretty well like Mafia 3 then I'd say yes as you'll have 2 out of 3 games that run well and Mafia 1 will just be down to your personal preference and whether the laggy controls get on your nerves. It makes driving, shooting and just moving Tommy around a real chore. On release I rated it about a 6/10, playing through the Definitive Edition with all its fixes and new content it's easily an 8 or 9.Ī big caveat to this - what platform are you intending to play them on? On console neither game has had a next gen patch, Mafia 3 runs pretty well regardless but Mafia 1 suffers from some of the worst input delay I've ever experienced which totally ruined it for me. The story and characters are once again a highlight. ![]() Shooting, driving and general control of the main character all feel really solid and enjoyable. Some may consider it too grindy in that regard. Mafia 3 is a much more contemporary open world games, lots of side activities and missions to do. But then the game isn't trying to be a Ubisoft fill the world with hundreds of cookie cutter side missions. There's not really much to do outside of the main story aside from a handful of side missions (10 I think) and collectibles. Even though Mafia 1 is open world, it is very much a story driven experience. Mafia 1 has a really good story and characters, the weapons feel weighty an impactful, the cars are suitably slow to build up speed and most handle like tanks.
